addicted.

i am officially addicted.

my new guilty pleasure is twilight. i love it. i seriously pick it up to read it and have to make myself stop reading to go to sleep. jered teases me that i'm a 13-year-old girl for reading it, but it's SO GOOD. i read twilight and new moon in about a 4-day span... i'm about 1/3 of the way through book 3 and can't wait to finish and get to the 4th book!! make fun if you want... but read it. i promise you'll love it.

i love this kid!

she's so fun.

p.s. hadleigh walked on saturday (may 9th)! she finally figured out she could take more than 1 or 2 steps, which she's been doing since a little before her birthday. when she got going, she ran across the room and then faceplanted. everyone clapped for her, and she laid on the floor and clapped for herself :) she still prefers to crawl, but she's getting there!

graduation.

i graduated this past sunday (mother's day!) from duke. i technically am not finished until august, but they let us participate since we finish at a weird time. just 400 clinical hours and 275 test questions to go until i can be krystal fnp...

well baby.

hadleigh had her 12-month well child check today, and she's doing awesome. she weighs 21 pounds 9 ounces, which puts her in the 50th percentile, and she is 30 inches tall, which bumps her up to the 75th percentile now! she's doing everything as she should. when i told dr. brown how she did with the switch from bottles to sippy cups and whole milk, that she eats everything, and that she always sleeps through the night, i got the speech from him too... "are ya'll planning on having more?" "it's not a definite rule, but if the first one's this perfect..." he pretty much prepared me just like everyone else has -- since hadleigh's been so easy, the next one might not be! he did give me a little glimmer of hope -- since we had all those weight issues with hadleigh early on, he said maybe that will make her the "troublemaker" and the next one will be great too. i'm going to hold on to that idea :)

hilton head.

we just got back today from a long weekend at the beach -- we had so much fun! hadleigh loved the beach (much better than the pool). last time we went, she was only 4 months old, so it was so cool to watch her this time. she had a great time splashing in the water, playing in the sand, and letting the waves crash into her legs. despite a few issues (hadleigh had a major allergy flare-up that required some emergency zyrtec treatment and mama forgot she was pasty-white and got a horrible sunburn as a result), we had an awesome time and can't wait to go back!
